James McConnell faced considerable challenges when he was in groups of people where more than one person was speaking at the same time.

But that was all before James visited Hanine El-Chanti at HearingLife in Toronto, Canada.

After testing James’ hearing, Hanine nominated him for the Campaign for Better Hearing’s Give-back Programme.

After receiving his new hearing aids, James says he is “shocked and thankful.”

“I will be able to talk to my family and friends without having to tell them to be quiet so I can hear what one person is saying,” he continues.

For James, the Give-back Programme award means he can hear more easily in everyday situations, such as when people are talking where there is background noise.

“Not having to turn down the TV to be able to hear what they are saying is great!” he says.
